Installing the TelliCast softwareLocate the file t-systems-setup.exe, and double-click on it. This file will most likely be supplied by EUMETSAT on CD. Again, you may be asked to confirm running the file. Select a Complete Installation (note that the default is "(none)". Right! When presented with Installation Location dialog, I recommend that instead of the default directory, you choose somewhere outside the C:\Program Files\ tree. I recommend a new directory in the C:\Tools\ folder. I chose C:\Tools\TelliCast\. Make the folder first, then use the Browse button to locate it. Press the Next button once you have set the installation location. Caveat - the best choice for the destination directory still has to be confirmed. Leave the Install and configure as a Windows Service unchecked: Enter your user name and password exactly as given to you by EUMETSAT. Note that you can always edit the recv.ini later to enter the correct information. If, at the final step, you leave the Start when finished box checked: you will most likely get a warning message from the Windows Firewall: Be sure to press the Unblock button! Windows FirewallIt may not be obvious, but on the two Windows-7 systems I configured it seems that you may need to unblock the tc-recv.exe program twice - once for the "Home/Work (Private)" network (i.e. the local LAN), and once for the "Public" network into which the DVB network box (or card) address has been placed. In the start menu search box, enter "firewall", and select the "Allow a program through the firewall" option. You may see two columns with an entry for tc-recv.exe in each, as in the screen-shot below for a system which has had both a SkyStar PCI card and a DVBWorld box installed at different times. Not having an entry in the Public column may be the cause of "Coordinator Lost" messages which have been reported. Access to the Private network is also needed for the program to operate on the local LAN, such as to provide the HTML Shell function. Not quite sure why I have two lines for tc-recv.exe in this screenshot, as you can see that the SNMP Service also has Public and Private checked on the same entry. Seems to be the same on both Windows-7 PCs, though.
Adding or updating the entry for TelliCastStarting from the dialog above, press the Change settings button, which enables the Allow another program button. Pressing this button brings up a list of known programs, and it may be that tc-recv.exe is already listed (displayed as the familiar pink T icon and the description "BusinessTV-IP". If it is not present, use the Browse button to locate and open the program. On this system it is in K:\EUMETCast\... Having located the program, press Open, and then select the program and press "Network location types..." on the Add a Program dialog: Be sure to tick both boxes - Home/Work and Public: and close the dialog with the OK button. |
